New Member _ Incubator lid came briefly ajar during hatching. Advise please.

So far out of the 7 eggs I had in the incubator, 3 have hatched and the chicks are doing great. We'll let the other 4 eggs incubate for another day or so to make sure we don't have any late bloomers. We were only wanting to add a few more ladies to our flock anyways. I had said I wanted at least 4 more, but 3 will work if that's all we get.

It's one thing to be given some eggs to start your flock. It's a whole other thing when you see how the eggs came about. From your Rue doing his job and the ladies doing theirs. Very awesome process.

I never knew I would enjoy having chickens so much!

Hello Everyone. This is my 2nd time incubating. 1st time was last spring. Today is day 22. My first egg hatched last night and my 2nd today. When I was checking on them the incubator lid briefly came ajar. Did I ruin the rest of my eggs from hatching?

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Summer of 2022

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 6. 2-roosters, 4-hens

(3) What breeds do you have? Americanas and Violets

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Watching them

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Homesteading

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. 6 dogs (1-large med coat German Shepard, 1-huskie, 1-lab mix, 3-ankle biters ), 4 Nigerian Dwarf goats, Vegetable garden. All my dogs really protect my chicks and goats. Very gentle with them. Dogs keep the predators away,so I'm able to free range.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? Looking for some answers on my incubation issue and found this forum on DuckDuckGo.

Just wanted to post an update. The 3rd egg hatched just fine. Only had 3 out of 7 eggs hatch, but all 3 are doing great. We ended up purchasing 4 ducklings from TS without realizing how much more round the clock care the ducks need. Constantly having to change their bedding for new dry pine shavings. Clean their water 7+ times a day. It's all good. Supposed to be 86 degrees today so going to bring them outside for a brief swim in the really small baby pool my wife found.

Guys. I think I have 2 females and 1 male in my newest generation. Not including these 3, I have 2 roosters and 4 hens. The grey and black chicks were from one of my Ameraucana hens and my barred-rock rooster. The white chick is from my Lavender Orpington hen and my KFC rooster (not sure what breed really, just reminds me of a KFC rooster). What's your thoughts on the sex of these chicks?
