Hi all! I just love the BackYardChickens forum and website and used it in my research selecting the chicks I just ordered! Once I placed my order I figured I'd better join because I know I will have LOTS of questions. Never had chickens before and REALLY excited about it
Starting small, only 6 chicks, should be ready the last week in May (2 Black Jersey Giants, 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 2 Columbian Wyandottes). Hubby is not too excited, but a big softie and I know will become attached once I get them here - lol! That's how it usually works when I get a new dog anyways
BTW, dogs are my passion (no human children here, just my fur kids!!) and I show them as my hobby. I show Akitas, a couple of Afghan Hounds and a Saluki. Only the Akitas live with me, the others come for weekend stays when I do dog shows. I expect to become just as passionate about the chickens, I have wanted chickens for years!! I guess that is about it for now, I live in the Cleveland OH area. A little concerned about how to make sure when we build our coop that it is winter-proof for the chickens, I'm sure I'll see plenty of plans and ideas in the forums!!
