Hi new member got my first ameraucanas and all I can say is wow good luck sexing these chickens. So much info and confusion on how to determine. I got some people saying they will have rooster traits. So I'm lost on determining these guys. But there color and back feathers looks rooster for sure.

to Backyard chickens!

Are you getting eggs yet? Sometimes the surest way to tell is if you get an egg or a crow

Yours look like they are very mixed genetics
Thanks for responding so fast. And that's where I got confused alot of ppl were talking about the three row comb and feathers can be taken by 2nd gen and 3rd gen with genetics so they can be very deceitful. I only wish a had pictures of these mixed genetics hens. But maybe I'll wait it out.

They both look like cockerels. Just FYI, I believe you have Easter Eggers. Hatcheries, and feed stores should be held accountable for their false advertising re: Ameraucana vs. EE. Ameraucana are a specific breed, with only specific colors being accepted into the SOP. They always have the muff and beard. They will always lay a blue egg. EE are mutt birds, showing up in a lot of different colors. They may or may not have the muff and beard. They may lay blue, green, aqua, pinkish, tan or brown eggs. IMO, EE are better layers, and I love them. I have been blessed to have both EE and Ams in my flock.

Oh really yea I got them from a feed store as ameraucanas. So they look like straight Easter eggers. Funny thing is the feed store said there both the same chicken different names. Yea I hoping for pullets but oh well I'll be checking out the other feed store near me.
