The teens and I just picked up a dozen chicks yesterday, Cornish Giants. Hoping we get a few hens and a rooster out of the lot.
Man, are these babies adorable!

We live on a small acreage, 20 acres of trails and a couple of pastures for our 4 horses, 2 dogs and 2 ferrets.
We thought about trying our hand at chicken rearing. We are hooked! Between the kids and myself, we spend a lot of time reading about feed, coops, brooders, nesting boxes....the list goes on and on. So fascinating.

If you have any tips on starting chicks, please feel free to share. We hope all our chicks survive to chickenhood. Any suggestions are welcome.

Welcome to BYC.
:yesss: We are glad you joined this flock!
Jump right in and make yourself at home.
Uh oh...I've never heard of cornish giants. Are you sure you didn't just buy meat birds?
