(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, new-ish...only about a year of experience with them
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Now none - all were killed by a bobcat or coyote last Friday.
Super devastating. Used to have 7, but will be getting 6 new ones in April
(3) What breeds do you have?
Used to have 2 buff orphingtons, 2 silver laced wyandottes, 1 easter egger, 1 Frost White Legbar, 1 Partridge Penedesenca
coming in early April - Cuckoo Bluebar, Cream Legbar, Easter Egger, White Crested Black Polish, Golden Laced Wyandotte, Partridge Cochin
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They bring so much joy to my day! Raising teenagers is hard business, chickens are ALWAYS happy to see me!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Nothing right now. I work full time, am about to graduate with a masters in social work - trying to figure out how to transition out of Finance into being a therapist, raising three kiddos - two swimmers that are always needing to be at some meet, and a ballerina that does ballet six days a week, and work a side job on a crisis van for "fun". LOL! After May, I will finally have time for ME!!! Yippee!!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I have two little rescue dogs - that look partially homeless (that's my type)...that I trained to behave around the chickens, even though one is a bird dog! Three kiddos - two boys and one girl - and a super great husband that caters to all my chicken whims!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? I lurked on here since day one of randomly buying our first few chickens from the feed store...such a wealth of knowledge and not too much drama!
