Hi everyone..so happy to have found this site. Love my chickens, which number around 180 at the moment. Looking forward to meeting others and sharing stories and helps in raising chickens!

You can tell us some things about chickens I bet! How long have you been a chicken keeper?
 
It's always fun at feeding time....some actually are for meat...but we have a lot of pullets right now! Moved into my mominlaws home and she had a huge chicken coop...figured we would fill it in her honor....
 
I have had chickens for about 20yrs....but always a small flock, around 20...We moved into my mom in laws farm this Jan. and she had a huge chicken coop...we repaired it and filled it with chickens in her honor...we have several breeds, love to see all of them interact with each other...but just one Rooster, Sergio.....his nick name is Rooroo....we also raise our own meat chickens...and sell eggs...Love having chickens, they are quite loving and curious...happy to join you all here...
 
LOL....sure have a PHD in feeding and watering, that's for sure..!
 
Welcome to BYC from California wine country in the Western Sierra Foothills!

I have fifty mature chickens, two roosters and about 20- 25 juveniles, 27 Cayuga ducks, five Toulouse geese, four turkeys and most recently, a free Peacock which just showed up in my yard over a week ago. He's made himself quite at home.

Feeding time is pretty interesting around here, too. ;) They actually free feed (it's always available in the coop) but "somehow" the feed coming out of the scoop is so much better than what they had been eating up until that moment. And Treat time - when I hand feed the flock Black Oil Sunflower Seed (BOSS) is a real kerfluffle of activity.
