Hiya!! First off, I'm gonna answer the question things, there'll prob be a lot more than just the answer the things.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I grew up just with dogs in a small town with horses down the road. I loved visiting them and my mom would take me to the ranch across town to see all the farm animals, but I never had any. I went off to college in Arizona where I met my husband, Matt, and that's when I first dealt with chickens. He took me down to his grandma's house with promises of pony rides and chicken molesting, so of course I was excited. Matt's grandma raised so many chickens, and they named them after chicken foods (Waffles, Kiev, Parmesan, ect.) They we're all so easy to pick up and hold and I fell in love. We left Arizona after we got married and moved to nw Florida, and after making a co-op out of an old horse stall, we bought six chicks in February.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We got six in February, then we ended up getting two more for our niece.
(3) What breeds do you have?
We got one White Leghorn who I named Ginger (I name my animals after food, my dog's name is Cheesecake, I picked spices and herbs for my chickens), one Rhode island red named (Witch)Hazel, my only roo, I have two ameracaunas, one named Cinnamon and one nutmeg, and we got two Plymouth Rock hens, one named pepper and one named clove. The two we got a month later are australorps, named Basil and Cassia.
(4) How did you find out aboutBackYardChickens.com?
I Google a lot of chicken questions and end up looking for answers here.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love to draw, read, write, paint... I love video games and working in our garden. We travel around the country just about every year and I love it. Matt is a construction guy, he loves to work on new projects and to improve things, and I love to help, too.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Matt was in the army, went to college, has four degrees, and I just went to college to become a dropout with no degree, haha. School isn't my thing, I'm comfortable working as a grocery store clerk or a retail store employee when I need to, but Matt is also an investor. So, right now, I don't work. It's hard, not working, not going to school- it's hard to meet friends here. But I have eight cuddly chickens and one perfect husband and my sweet child of a puppy to entertain me until I meet more people. Anyway, I think I've said enough, answered all questions. I hope to talk to you guys soon c:

:goodpost:Well first off I’m also new to this community... atleast I think 5-6 days new or more... forgot.... my first time hatching quail eggs.... well they haven’t hatched yet! I’m at day 18(do recommend hatching it’s super fun and awesome experience.... if I don’t fail my first ever batch T-T), this community is good and comfy! They’ve answered about every question I had and they replied wishing the next day or hour or so. I’m still in highschool, I think it’s pretty weird a guy myself at this age who loves halo, call of duty, and piano randomly saw a video of hatching quails and decided to do it himself, I guess the dark side of this community brought me out, I do wanna welcome ya to this place it’s nice and all... otherwise hope the reply atleast was something rather nice to read or laugh at atleast! :th:wee:welcome
