In the Brooder
Hi everyone!
New member from WI here (well, from Maine, but recently relocated to 10+ acres in the beautiful La Crosse, WI area).
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We are brand-new to chickens! It's something that we've wanted to get started at since we moved to our new place, and recently started work on our coop. Chicks were ordered online and should be arriving this week!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
0... Ordered 8, hoping 6 survive.
(3) What breeds do you have?
We ordered 4 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Easter Eggers, and 2 of something that might wife thought were 'cute'.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Pretty much every internet search about chickens leads here, I think!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Software engineer by trade... hobbies include DIY Internet of Things projects, Raspberry Pi automation, projects around the house/yard, video games... oh and raising the childrens.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
2 kids (4.5yrs and 1 yrs), 2 cats for pets. My wife and I see the chickens as a way to 1) get great fresh eggs 2) teach our kids responsibility 3)
