Hello!
I'm a new member to BYC. My family and I found BYC on Google Y.E.A.R.S. ago. We are finally joining to participate in the great community!
We have loved having a small flock of chickens for many years. We currently keep a flock of just 3-6 chickens: Leghorn, Buff Orpington, and Plymouth Rock. In Jan 2021, we branched out to peafowl, as well. We have 1 mated pair - India Blue Wild Type.
Like so many happy chicken folks out there, we find we love our birds' quirkiness, their work ethic, how much they LOVE produce scraps, all the fresh eggs to enjoy and share, and the many educational opportunities they've brought to us. And now we're learning everything we can about peafowl, just as quickly as possible!
We live in sunny Southern California and are blessed with a year-round, mild climate. There are natural predators in the area, such as hawks, coyotes, etc., so all of our birds stay in completely fenced-in, permanent runs.
