Hi,
My name is Tara and I am new to keeping land-based livestock. We live on a small island (Nantucket) and hatched 5 pekin ducks back in March. I am a marine biologist that runs a shellfish hatchery for the community to help with stock enhancement of various commercial and recreational shellfisheries. Our family also runs a 10 acre oyster farm. We have two kids and a big empty barn/home. We chose ducks because they seem to fit our lifestyle...they have a pen, but free range when we are outside-the only predators that we have on this island are red-tail hawks (and not many). Glad to have this resource moving forward!
