I don't have chickens but I've wanted some for a long time. Since my town doesn't allow chickens within city limits, I'm going to be getting a small covey of quail instead. I'll be getting my quail in January, but I'm still not sure weather I want button quail or coturnix quail.

I've already been researching quail for the past 9 months, which is why I know that Backyard Chickens is a treasure trove of valuable knowledge on quail. I ended up deciding to join because I wanted to start participating in discussions and asking questions.

My online name is Ataraxis or Co, I use she/they pronouns, my favorite colors are green and pink, I'll be raising quail for eggs, and I'm highly interested in both homesteading and prepping.

I have a biased opinion because I've only kept Coturnix Quail, but you can't beat them for eggs and meat. (I'm pretty sure you can't beat Button Quail in terms of cuteness, though.)

I bet you've found it already, but the Quail Forum is a great resource for your future covey. Of course there are a lot of fun social pages to get in on as well all around the site.

Thanks for joining! Welcome to BackYard Chickens!
