New member, first post

Welcome to BYC. I'm going on my 4th flock in 3 yrs. I've lost all of them to predators, both hairy and human. MY new flock will be here in 2 weeks,
4 Buff Orpington Hens and one Buff Rooster.
I've learned from my mistakes and think I've corrected them all.
Good Luck. Questions? email

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
How big is your coop? You are in Harrisburg-ish PA. You will have winters with snow. You will need a place for the birds to stay when there is snow on the ground. They need a large enough coop and run to stay in during poor weather.

The coop is about 10x6 and the small off set “run” is about 5x6 but The coop is built up about 2.5’ off the ground so the run also extends underneath the coop for about 15x6 total run.
Posts are set 36” in ground and I trenched in the wire mesh 12” down to try to make most digging predators attempt(s) as futile as possible.

I put chicken wire in the substrate but that didn't help when my neighbor opened gate in middle on the night and the Coyotes had dinner.
