Welcome to BYC! Enjoy yourself here! It is a great place!(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Completely new, just received some chicks about 4 weeks ago!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
3 chickens total
(3) What breeds do you have?
Unsure
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I've always loved animals and the idea of having a little homestead. I played a lot of farming games growing up and planned on having chickens and bees far far into the future. However, my mom brought home baby chicks to give to a friend who couldn't take them in the end, so I've been caring for them. I love their little chirps and different personalities, it feels fun and peaceful to care for them so far.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love camping and scrapbooking!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a 6 year old dog Finn. I was a bit nervous about his behavior towards the chicks since he loves to hunt for lizards in our backyard (never catches one) and always seemed too excited when we had hamsters (our other dog was much calmer and would sit with the hamsters). He likes to sit and watch the chickens, gets jealous when we give the chicks too much attention and has tried to get them to play with him a few times lol!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've been researching how to sex our chickens and BYC has lots of posts of people asking for the same help!
