Yeah me and the fiancé are trying to get into this raising our own chickens. She loves them and is very knowledgeable, a lot more than I. Currently we have 7 little ones and 3 large ones, so far it has been fun.

Currently we have 6 black sex links chicks, 3 productions red, 1 buff orp, 1 light brahma, 1 unknown chick(maybe cornish or rock). We are wanting to find us a Araucana\EE rooster, since we dont have a Roo yet, the little unknown chick may be a Rooster.

Welcome to Backyard chickens!! I hope you enjoy it and the camaraderie here and everybody that goes nuts over chickens (me being one of them....) Have fun! And ask questions!

Brahma's are great looking birds, I want a couple. My wife wants her first big chicken order to be the cackle hatchery surprise box, what's better than 50 random birds.

Nothing at all is better than 50 random birds! I strongly recommend Cackle, out of the several thousand hatchery birds I've worked with theirs have always been the biggest and healthiest...

I don't have experience with lots of other hatcheries but i do know cackle is the only hatchery I would ever order from, my cousin always used them so I have faith in their animals plus they are pretty much local just a couple hours away.

My wife actually wants 2 surprise boxes but 100 random chicks might be too much lol
