Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

I also think you should get several more hens if you want to have 3 roosters. Some will say 10 hens per rooster. We typically have about 4-5 hens per rooster, which is on the low side, but these are silkies, where it works a bit better. Fewer hens means they'll get battered by the roosters unless you have a plan to separate them. I happen to have one overbred hen if you want to see a picture. I'll be catching her tonite and penning her up away from them. She's not a breeder.

We're glad you're here!

Thank you so much! I wasn’t sure how many hens we would need. Right now we are keeping the Roos away from our little hens. Although they are close in ages my girls are much smaller than the boys and I don’t want them hurting them. Does it matter that they are different breeds?🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you for your advice! 😁. We are so new to this. I knew we needed more hens but was unsure how many we would need to get.

We have 2 roos and 17 hens and of the hens, 1 needs a saddle as she is the fav of both. 6 others have a very small bare/worn area on their back.
We have 5 pullets at 17 weeks and the 13 month old roo, is Very interested in them. He has mounted 2 in the past couple of days and they squatted for him. Now, when he tried to mount a couple of the 12 week old pullets, they yelled, I yelled and he stopped.

We have a number of pure and many BYM. All get along and free range all day together.
