I'm also in Cambodia and just got a couple of ducks. I'm interested to know what you are feeding yours. I've been worried about buying feed here in case it is medicated. Also, do you have any idea what the duck breeds here are called?

Hi Lina,

We feed the chicks regular commercial feed that is sold by the farm supply store, here in Battambang. We feed the chicks the starter feed, and the older birds (1 month +) the maintainer feed. Basically, the feed for the older birds appears to be larger pellets.

We also feed them Chinese Cabbage. If you are Khmer, you would know it as Bak Choy, I think? We also feed them watermelon.

I do not know if this would apply to ducks, though, as I have not attempted to raise ducks. We are up to about 120 chickens and chicks, though, at the moment.

I do think the immunizations would probably apply to the ducks, though, as to chickens. You can get the vaccine for Newcastle and Infectious Bronchitis from most farm supply stores. If you are not sure what it is, it will be kept in the refrigerator or freezer, perhaps, at the store.

What city are you in?

I'm in Siem Reap. We only have three ducks (as pets). I didn't realize we needed to immunize them--do you think that applies to ducks too?

Well, not sure, really. Someone here should be able to let you know for sure, though. I know, without a doubt, we have to immunize our chickens. Maybe ask one of the other duck folks and see what they say.

SR is great. We just got back from there. Stayed for Khmer New Year. Only 3.5 hours away.

Oh, your ducklings are really cute. Sorry I cannot be of more assistance concerning them. I just don't know.
