Hello,
I am new to chickens and bought 11 chicks from my local feed store a week and a half ago. They are thriving and feathering, and I can't wait to see how they will look when they grow up. There are 3 EE pullets, 2 Brown Leghorn pullets, and 6 from the SR "crested assortment" warmer. Five of the 6 look like Polish(GL, SL, and one either white or Buff. I have no idea what kind the 6th chick is. Its a pretty little gold chick with a black spot on its head a few spots sprinkled down its back. It's also got a smaller poof and a shorter neck than the polish.. Guess time will tell.
Looking forward to learning a lot from this site. I already got a great idea for a Florida style open coop from the coop pages. I've also browsed the chicken breed reviews. I'll be ordering Blue Andalusians, Delawares and Dominiques or BR's along with some Cochin and D'Uccle bantams in the next couple of weeks.
For now, I'm just enjoying the chicks I have and am designing their coop, getting my garden beds ready to plant, and being Mom.
