I noticed two hawks starting to build a nest near my coop. What do you all think of me just breaking up the nest before they can have chicken eating babies? Think it would help?

Hawks and their nests are protected by The Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918

Further discussion of messing with the nest, the hawks, or their eggs, will result in this thread being locked.

Hello, and welcome! Good luck with your chick's! With hawk's around, make sure that the chicken run's top is covered so that the hawk's can't fly in to get them later.

Thanks I have a heavy duty bird netting covering the entire garden center area.

If you read that act it states and I quote: "
"inactive nests and nests under
construction may be proactively destroyed without a permit;"

I'd suggest keeping the flock confined to a large, covered, secure run and forget the free ranging.
