Hello everyone...I'm a new member and live in Gold Canyon, Arizona with my husband and 2 girls. We don't have any chickens yet but will be getting them soon after we finish building the coop and learning as much as we possibly can. Our 2 girls are in 4-H out here and want to have 2 show chickens as well as some laying hens. We have been looking into Sultans and Silkies for show chickens as I have heard they both do pretty well in the heat. Does anyone know where I can get them?? Also, any ideas for laying hens that do well in heat?? Any tips would be much appreciated!! Thanks!!

Great that your children enjoy the birds. Check out the California thread and the "Buy, Sell, Trade" forum for sources of silkies. Remember two things, when buying birds 'cheaper' isn't generally better and it costs no more to feed a show quality bird than a pet quality bird. Good luck.
