Hello, I am new to the site, but not new in owning chickens. My parents had Chickens growing up. Feeding 8 kids was not an easy task for them. Now here I find myself with 4 boys and a grown man, that love Breakfast as every meal of the day that I decided to get Chickens. It is working out well so far. I have a few new chicks, but my established flock is 1 rooster and 6 hens. No idea what the rooster is, my hens are Amaracuna's. All were given to me by my sister in law. The chicks I have are 3 Silkies, 4 Polish, 1 Turken and 1 White Cochin. I am excited to be a part of the group and can't wait to hear and see what everyone else comes up with for managing their chickens.

Nice to meet you Wendi, you do have an assortment. Generally polish and silkies get feather plucked by other breeds because they look so different. If they have all grown up together as chicks, it may not be a problem. Silkies are not known as good layers but, generally make wonderful "broody" hens that like to hatch out chicks. They are usually docile and children's favorites

You hens are probably Easter Eggers and can lay pastel colored eggs from tan to pale pink, green or blue.
