Hello! I've browsed this forum for quite a while, and finally decided to join in today. 
I'm 22 and finally found a piece of land to call my own this year. I've had good experience raising chicks in the past but this is my first year hatching.
Right now I have 11 quail just about ready to pip in the incubator, and I've made a great deal with someone local for a bunch of bielefelder hatching eggs that I plan to raise as meat birds, should the hatching gods be on my side, lol.
My favorite prized bird is a black star/ameraucana cross hen named Sabbath, who has the prettiest purple sheen on her feathers. I was so used to green/blue sheen on feathers that her lovely violet color surprised me!
I plan to post a lot of pictures of her!
But mostly I'd just like to finally be apart of the discussion, and to be able to easily get advice when I need it. Nice to meet everyone!
