Hello all I am a new member from Kentucky. My wife and I are getting into the poultry raising hobby for the first time in years and I’m joining this site to poke at the poultry hivemind and learn from folks that have done it a long time.
A little about myself I am a welder by trade my wife is a cpa we have one child (the reason for our hobby). We are trying to raise our child with some of the old ways I was taught when younger he is two years old next week and so far he adores the outdoors. We keep a large garden and have a small flock of poultry.
As for the business at hand we have 5 laying hens that I got at tractor supply (we lost 3 of the original 8) and we have three broad breasted white turkeys that were supposed to be thanksgiving dinner but stole our hearts and follow my child like three dogs. There are two toms and one hen named Tom, terry and tillie respectively. I have some turkey specific questions that I will post in the appropriate forum shortly because I have raised chickens many times but never kept turkeys and since I have these birds for the long haul I figured it’s best to provide them the best care possible.
