Hi All,
My wife and I started our chicken adventure over 2 years ago with Australorpes and Barred Rocks. I have actually come to enjoy the chickens more than the dog. We raised our small brood of 12 from day old chicks and wanted to expand but, were limited on space. Past 3 months ago we moved to Kentucky and have a nice farm to grow our brood. We now have expanded to about 80 chicks, pullets, and laying hens. We have Australorpes, Barred Rocks, Black Copper Marans, Leghorns (our velociraptors), Jubille Orpingtons (All Mine!), Rhode Island Reds, and Welsummers.
We have done a lot of learning through trial and error and of course reading post from BYC. Our hope is to have a nice 100 chickens in the making by the end of the year and continue growing our flock. Thanks for all the posts...they have been a source of knowledge for us and we will start posting more often. All of our chickens range freely including our chicks. We have built a 20 x 20' area that we deem the playpen so they can start their pecking and scratching.
Cheers!
FH
