Just checking in from Ky. We live in suburbia, and raise a smaller flock of RIR's and Barred Rocks, along with assorted other critters that make our neighbors think we opened a petting zoo.

Currently, around 40 or so.

I've got six RIR layers, one RIR rooster, six Barred rock layers and one BR rooster. Throse will be culled and replaced as needed, but the numbers wont change.

For meat, I've got 3 RIR 'slayers that are ready to go, nine pullets (black sex link and RIR ) that are almost ready, and another 20 that are just moving from the breeding box to the coop. By winter, I'll be down to just my layers and rooster, tho. Im raising birds for both eggs and meat, that's why we have so many.

I also have three guineas in the garden for pest control, three Californian rabbits that aren't breeding properly and will be in the freezer this weekend (to be replaced with New Zealand next year) and three Nigerian Dwarf goats (two does and a buck) for milk.

Got a few dogs and a cat, just to round things out....
