I am too new to the site and am unable to post pics yet, can someone look at my page and see my barred rock chick, she/he is about 4 weeks old and the comb has come in pretty fast. Does this mean it's a rooster?
Often it's relatively easy to tell male from female in Barred Rock chicks, unlike most breeds. Don't go by the comb. Look for some black coloration on the fronts of the legs and a darker overall color, as well as the size / shape of the white dot on the head. Here's a full explanation:
from Ohio. So glad you joined. From what I can see on your BYC page, the BR looks like a pullet to me. It looks like dark feathering. Next time you take pics, turn the red lamp off. You should be able to post pics now. Check out the FAQ section.
