Chickens are a lot of fun and great for kids and really fresh eggs are the best! If you could add some wheels to the coop or heavy end so, you could easily move the coop each evening? Wouldn't that help? Then they would have new grass each day and would be happy.Yes, that was the plan to open up a door in the floor with a bridge they can walk down to the bottom level, which is grass, but its full of poop. So my fear is , Is if we close in the bottom and put an opening with a little ladder for them, we would not be able to clean it out properly!! I guess unless we fill it with sand or something. But it would have to be cleaned every day and we both have full time jobs! So that wont happen!! Im thinking maybe chickens just arent are thing. Any suggestions please? I feel maybe if we let them out more it would help. BUT we do not have a fenced in yard!
Until then, we've made a temporary fence out of wire and poles...we sort of weave the poles between the wire and pound them into the ground enough for them to be sturdy. We move the whole shebang about every 3 or 4 days. The girls don't fly out of it and have lots of room to wander, scratch and just "be chickens". Do you suppose something like this would work for you?
