New member from Maine

This is my first year with chickens and have a lot of questions and a lot to learn. I drive my husband nuts with questions and worry. I have 5 hens. 1 Road Island Red 2 Barred Rocks and not sure about the other two they look like the others but are black.

I live in Mid Coast Maine and am worried about the cold weather.

Chickens are very hardy, and provided good shelter do fine in the cold, but it is hard to believe I know.

! Great to have you in our community! I agree with 1muttsfan! Chickens are some pretty hearty and resilient critters. Just give them a draft free coop and heat won't be much of a problem. Hang around BYC reading the various forums - you will pick up lots of useful information. Good luck to you!

The cold usually isn't a problem for chickens, as long as they have a place where they can stay dry away from the wind. They're built to withstand some interesting temperatures. Some people's chickens even like the snow!
