This is my first year with chickens and have a lot of questions and a lot to learn. I drive my husband nuts with questions and worry. I have 5 hens. 1 Road Island Red 2 Barred Rocks and not sure about the other two they look like the others but are black.

I live in Mid Coast Maine and am worried about the cold weather.

! Great to have you in our community! I agree with 1muttsfan! Chickens are some pretty hearty and resilient critters. Just give them a draft free coop and heat won't be much of a problem. Hang around BYC reading the various forums - you will pick up lots of useful information. Good luck to you!
 
Hi and :welcome

The cold usually isn't a problem for chickens, as long as they have a place where they can stay dry away from the wind. They're built to withstand some interesting temperatures. :p Some people's chickens even like the snow!
