What is the size of the coop?

It's only small but my hens are free range and get full run of our back yard and a big field during the day

Does your BR (?)have some sort of large swelling on her left foot? It looks that way from the photo. I can see the feather loss near tail that rooster did to her.

She had the spot on her back and bump on her leg when we got her from the farm. Hoped it would go away but got a bit worse. Hoping it goes away now that our rooster is gone. Poor Minnie.

Welcome to BYC. And I hope your hens will heal up very fast. And one question did you see the roosters do a weird dance before it mated with the hen?

No - he stalked them and them jumped on them. I'm so glad he's gone. lol. I'm not cut out for chicken mating!

Is it cold enough in Nebraska to necessitate heat? They look old enough to handle weather.

Not sure if they will need heat yet - it'll be our first winter with them. It gets pretty cold here. Our neighbor has a large coop and does not have a heater.
