Hi all,

I've lurked a bit around here but now that I finally have some fowl in the house, I figured it was time to register and ask some questions. But first, here's the new member questionnaire.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, got some ducklings last Thursday. No chickens.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

5 ducklings

(3) What breeds do you have?

Khaki Campbells

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Thus far the best part is hanging out with my duck buddies and watching them grow. I anticipate that I'll really like having fresh eggs all the time and having them forage around the yard and garden to help with weeds and bugs.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Competition shooting (primarily USPSA but I can have fun in any discipline), general tinkering, weight lifting, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, gardening, playing music, whatever else happens to grab my attention for the week.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Currently my family consists of me, my girlfriend of 8 years, my 12 year old Pembroke Corgi named Cookie, and our 5 newest members the ducklings (Famine, Pestilence, War, Death, and Horse). And professionally I'm an engineer.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I found BYC while doing pre-duck research. Decided to join to ask some questions I don't see quite answered yet.

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Congrats on the ducklings! We have a Corgi too. She helps the border collie keep the riffraff out of our yard.

We're glad you're here!
Glad to hear it! So far Cookster seems pretty interested in the well-being of the ducks. Not sure if she'll be much help with the bears and mountain lions, but at least she can keep crows away!
