Glad you joined us!

Your hens actually appear to be Easter Eggers, which are commonly sold as Ameraucanas. Easter Eggers are mixed breed chickens, usually with Ameraucana in their background, that lay colored eggs (blue, green, pink, brown, etc.). Purebred Ameraucanas are less common than EEs, and can usually only be purchased from local breeders. Ameraucanas have set characteristics (blue slate legs, muffs/beard, pea comb, etc.) and can only come in certain color varieties. On the other hand, Easter Eggers can be nearly any color.

Even though your hens aren't Ameraucanas, they should still be good layers of beautiful eggs for you. Good luck with them!

I'm glad you were able to post the picture. Your hens are definitely Easter Eggers. It will be interesting to see what color of eggs you get from them (blue, olive, green, beige, possibly even a pale pink or gold?). Be sure and let us know.)

Yes, with the new photo, I can tell that your birds are in fact Easter Eggers. They should lay you some nice colored eggs!

Those are my eggs so far. I did get them from a local breeder. I think she did say they were easter eggers. I don't really remember though.

I know this isn't the proper category to post this but the one that lays the gold or brownish ones stopped laying. Not sure why.

Here is the link to that thread so I can keep it in the right area.
