Hello from Pequea, PA! My name is Amy and I have 6 Hens..4 of them are Rhoad Island Reds, one is a Cochin and one is a Black Orpington. We seem to keep adding on to the coop and outside run to give the girls more free range area and better shelter. Today they just got electricity and lighting in the coop. This is going to be the first winter that I'll have to care for them in the freezing temps so we're now thinking about ways to keep their water from freezing and other special winterizing needs. I'm happy to have found this Forum and I'm sure you all are great caregivers to your Chickens and I can't wait to explore this page!

Hello from Jacksonville!

Lots to learn and explore. You might find a great answer for the prevention of freezing water under the coop tab or the feeding tab.

you may also want to check out "where am I , where are you," in the social forum to find and post on your state thread. People from you area could best tell you what you need to do to get thru winter.
