I found this so I could ask a question about my RIR. Info below and then I'm heading straight to the male or female section.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes, new. Got my chickens about 2 months ago and they are about 4 months old now

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 4

(3) What breeds do you have? Barred Rock, Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpington, and Ameracuna. Appologies if I mispelled any of those.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? I found it on google

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I'm a pretty big gardner, so getting chickens was sort of an extension of that.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. 1 husband, 2 kids, a dog and a cat. I'm an engineer for a large semiconductor manufacturer right now, but will probably leave in 6-9 months to hang with the kids (and the chickens) for a while.

Hi there & welcome!

I moved away from Portland about 2 years ago...escaped to the country just west of Salem, but hubby & I still spend lots of time up there. I also worked in semiconductors for 12 years

and I'm a gardener too!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Totally new...my first-ever chicks arrived yesterday morning

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 6

(3) What breeds do you have? Rhode Island Reds

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Found it on Google looking for an answer to a question I had. Joined up right away!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening & cooking

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

My husband and I have an 8-year-old male cat who controls the rodents around here with his superb hunting skills...the rest of the time he sleeps

We have 2 dogs ~ both female Lab/Rottweiler/Shepherd mix...sisters we adopted from the shelter last Father's Day when they were 3 months old. And of course now there's the 6 chickies!

We work out of our home, selling books online at the major book sites and through our own site. I do enjoy being self-employed! (Gives me time to spend with the menagerie...and the husband of course!)
