New member from south carolina with 2 silkies!

Hello everyone!

My name is Michelle and I live in South Carolina. We are currently about 80 percent done building our chicken coop from scratch and on Monday will be getting two white juvenile silkies. I will post pics of our coop as soon as we finish it within the next few days and pics of our new silkies as soon as we get them. I am so excited!

If anyone has any suggested girl names for two white silkies that would be great because I'm having a hard time thinking of names. Also, I'd like to eventually add two barred plymouth rock hens with my two silkies in a few months. Would those two breeds get along well together?

! Great to have you with us! I can't really speak to good silkie names...I'm sure someone will chime in with some good ideas, though.
In terms of the two breeds getting along, I think they will get along if introduced properly. There are lots of good references on BYC about how to accomplish this. Good luck to you and your future flock!

Also one more question...does anyone know of a hatchery that currently has any barred plymouth rocks available? The sooner I could get them the better for introductions I think. The few hatcheries that I have looked at don't have any available til spring time, which is understandable.

We just hatched our first Plymouth Rock that my son HAD to have, he has yet to name the one he is keeping.
We tend to name in themes. Our most recent them was Little House on the Prarie. Started when I named a bossy & mean pullet Mrs Harriet Oleson.
There are lots of ideas here too.
