New member from sunny San Diego

[majels chickens]

We are the Majel family from sunny San Diego. This past spring we decided to build a huge chicken coop named Coop De Ville. We got wonderful ideas here from BYC to know what kind of layout we would like. When we finished we thought we start our chicken adventure with 8 fun loving chicks. we have 2 rhode island reds, 2 standard blue cochins, 2 barred rocks, 2 americanas. They are part of the family now and our three year old loves feeding a petting them. Can't wait for them to start laying and we can grub down on some yummy eggs!!!

Best of luck with your chicks!
They'll start laying when they're around four months old.
You might not know they've started at first... our hens didn't lay anywhere near the nest boxes we had for them.
