Hi, my name is Cathy and I currently have 6 hens that I got last spring as started pullets. They are laying well but don't like the weather that we've been having here in North Central Tennessee. It has been cold with snow laying on the ground for days at a time. They take one look outside and turn right around back into their little coop that I built them.
My husband and I have decided to add to our flock this spring so I need to build a new larger coop to accomadate up to 2 doz hens. We will purchase eggs and hatch them ourselves. We have had many flocks in the past in both Oregon and Wisconsin but have now retired to our 1.6 acres that we just bought Dec of 2012.
We are looking for Wheaton Amerucanas, welsummers, and wheaton marans.
I joined this forum cause I really enjoy reading all the interesting "blogs" that members post. I hope that I can learn more and help others by being here.
Thanks for having me.

welcome to the flock. If you go to "where am I, where are you," in the social forum you can locate and post on your state thread. You may find people in your locale with the breeds you are seeking.

Glad you joined us! There is usually quite and assortment of chickens and hatching eggs for sale in the
Buy ~ Sell ~ Trade forum section. The system will allow you to place an ad there yourself, once you have a post count of 20, in case you don't see what you're looking for. Hatching eggs sales will start in earnest in Spring, so that will be a good time to shop :) Hope you find what you are looking for!

Almost forgot, there are some great coop plans and designs in the Coops section if you're looking for ideas. Enjoy!
