I have been reading and researching chickens-and we are getting started in a few weeks with a dozen Cornish X chicks. Figured we should start slow :)

Our winter project is building a mobile coop for the Buff Orpington flock I plan to start in the Spring.

I love reading all the posts here!

. Chickens are so cute and fun to have. And not to mention lay deliocus egg! I bet you will have a fun time with your new chickens!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join us. My wife and I were raised in the great state of Texas. Cornish X will make for some great eating. Just be sure and butcher them by 8-10 weeks. If you wait much past that length of time, they will begin having all kinds of health problems due to their rapid growth. You'll love the Buff Orpingtons; very beautiful, friendly and gentle birds, and good layers as well. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
