For the HOA, at least you don't have a rooster and there are others of like mind. Like us.

My wife and I just inherited three laying chickens. We already do a lot of gardening, so hopefully this will work out well. Also inherited a second-hand coop, which I scrubbed out in preparation.



Technically chickens are verboten by the HOA, but about 10% of the residents seem to have a coop. No roosters, though.

Currently have a little indoor parrot, so we’re not total avian novices.

Hope to participate in the community here going forward.

Welcome! My family is new to chickens as well. I've had a parrot in years past, zebra finches (which reproduced like crazy), and parakeets, one of which I've still got. So we'll enjoy our avian experience, lol. Wishing you and your wife the best!
