Regarding your question: I got my first fowl at seven--a day-old duck from a batch that were hatched in front of the crowd at the state fair. Her name was Daisy and I loved her so much I brought her into my bedroom to sleep on my stomach. I even swam in the little pond we dug her (my adult self says, YUCK!). Daisy turned out to be a drake and the meanest foot pincher ever, except to me. My mom got tired to defending herself with a rake in her own backyard, so Daisy went to live at a lake with hundreds of other ducks.
