Hey there, everyone!
I finally decided to join this forum after spending weeks looking through it. I'm going to be getting two Pekin ducks on the 14th and am very anxious to know everything I can beforehand.

I used to spend weekends with my aunt who owned three chickens, and that's what started my love for our feathered friends. I've always wanted to own chickens, but unfortunately, the codes in my neighborhood prohibit it. However, I spoke with the neighborhood association's president, and he agreed to let me keep ducks as an ornament piece for our lake. Of course, I'm not going to just release them out there. I'll raise them indoors to maturity and then take them out there during the day, and coop them at night.

So, you'll mostly see me in the Other > Ducks section, since I don't have any chickens! I hope that's alright. :) Thank you!
 


That is great that you can at least have the ducks! Have fun in the duck threads. You will love it.

Just kidding. You are certainly free to use any and all threads you are interested in. There is something for everyone here and plenty of people on this site do not have any chickens.
 
Sometimes other poultry are allowed as you are finding with ducks. If you go to "Other Backyard Poultry," you will find threads for ducks, geese, guineas, quail, etc. Hope you enjoy BYC as much as we do.

I'm glad you can have ducks, you & your neighbors will enjoy seeing them on the lake. Maybe if the ducks work out well, you'll be able to expand to having a few chickens too. I've never raised ducks (I'm a chicken person) but they look like a lot of fun.
