Hello Everyone!! My name is Michael and am from Denham Springs, LA. I'm another newbie and have a flock of nine 1 month old golden sex link hens and 2 other 1 week old chicks that i have no idea what breed/sex they are (got them from my kid's school from a egg hatching science project).
I've build my own 13'x3.5'x6' coop/run and have posted construction pics below.

I'm proud of my work!!

And here are my little chickadees..... (10 days old)

and now at 1 month old with the two new 1 week old chicks that i don't know what breed they are....

The older ones love to go outside now in this warm Louisiana weather....

I'll be on this site a good bit asking questions cause i'm no way near an expert when it comes to this so any advise will be very appreciated!!

! Pleased you joined us! Super looking coop and healthy & happy birds! The only advice I would offer is to put hardware cloth around the perimeter of the coop from ground level up at least a foot. Not sure of your predators but a raccoon can reach through the holes in chicken wire and kill and eat a chicken from the other side of the wire! Some folks even bury the HW cloth to deter digging predators. Good luck to you!

You know I had actually thought of that too after I had looked at other coops and how they had their wiring done. We do have racoons around where I am too so i will be definitly investing in some hardware cloth and installing this week. Backup methods for those predators are either to trap and/or shoot 'em.....

Advice taken!! 1/2 in. hardware cloth all around the perimeter of the coop and a little in the ground.
