Hello Everyone, I am so excited to be here. Though I grew up with chickens when I was very young and my parents have chickens now, this is the first time I have had chickens of my own. I have 5 hens which are Americanas. I just got them at the beginning of February and they are settling nicely in their coop now.

I am not certain of my favorite aspect of raising chickens - other than the eggs - as I haven't had them very long and am still finding my feet. One of the reasons that I wanted chickens, besides the eggs, I have a small garden and wanted to be able to do more than just compost all of the garden scraps.

Just remember that you cannot give them avacado, nightshade plant greens (think tomato leaves, eggplant leaves, potato greens). Welcome!
