Hello!
New member from the Chicago land area dipping my toes into backyard chicken keeping.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, will be starting from scratch.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Starting with 6 chicks, got them from Blains Farm and fleet. Currently almost 3 weeks old
(3) What breeds do you have?
I attached a PDF I made for my family depicting the breeds
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I enjoy animals in general. So far it has been lots of fun for all friends and family.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
-Volleyball Player
-DIY
-Sailing
-Motorcycles
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
-Just me and my Fiancé
-2 Dachshund mixes, 3 Cats, Tons of fish inside (African Cichlids) and outside (Koi).
-Mechanical/Biomechanical Sales Engineer
-I live on half acer lot with approx. 60'x60' fenced portion for them to "patr-time free-range"
-I will be building a Coop very similar to the Carolina Coop and these two videos (1 & 2)
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I have been reading the forums often to learn for my future chicks. Seems like the community is very supportive and helpful which is rare in our current time. Reason I am making an account now is I plan on posting questions in hopes to lean on experienced chicken owners knowledge that I do not have available to me anywhere else.
