First time chicken owners. We got our chickens as week old chicks from the daycare. Every year they hatch and raise them and we decided to take them this year. We ended up with 9 and all 9 survived and now free range on our property. I'm told we have Columbian X and Red X. I have googled many questions for the past 13 weeks and found this forum to be most helpful. I Decided to join because I think I have 6 cockerals but I'm not sure. They sure like to bite each other :( I need some expert advice. I can not keep roosters free ranging with small children around and I'm afraid they will eventually really hurt each other. :(
