I just wanted to update everyone: It only took 9 months but he finally agreed!!! I thought I had a game plan (modified shed, dog kennel reinforced with 1/2" hardware cloth) but hubs threw me for a loop when he threw out his idea. We have a large pole barn (32x48) and he wants to do a lean-to style run against the long side and park the coop inside of that! Holy cow! He's doing chicken math without even knowing he's doing chicken math! LOL We are in a holding pattern waiting for a quote on the project (he has a friend that works with the Amish locally.) We are going to have the lean to done then frame in the smaller sections and attach the hardware cloth ourselves, if the quote comes back at a reasonable rate (which I doubt with the cost of lumber right now.) If not, I may be back to the original game plan, at least until lumber prices come down. I am going to wait to get chicks until I have a coop one way or another. In the meantime, I will continue to research and soak in all the chicken knowledge.
