No chickens yet!! And no coop until the ground thaws and lets me put in a drainage pipe under the future coop and yard! Wouldn't you know there would be a real winter with snow and cold temps the year I am ready to build!!! Got 4 of the 6 Sono tube holes dug for a 8 x 12 walk-in coop...then cold weather hit.

I am retired from teaching art to little kids. I am thinking chickens will be somewhat similar!! Constantly making noise and running to where something interesting is happening. Chickens won't ask to go to the bathroom though...they'll just go :)

I want Buckeyes, and some of the usual "friendly" sorts, Buff Orpington, Black Australorp and Silver Laced Wyandotte.

This is the coop sort of. More ventilation at roof high side, plus the wide open space, which is covered with hardware cloth and has an automatic chicken door framed into it. Lift out plank for clean out due to deep litter bedding. Those flappy looking things in wall are windows.

Glad to have this forum, for sure. Happy to meet you!
