Hello everyone, another new member here. We live in Germany but I am from upstate NY... We are fairly new to chickens but things are going good so far. I've already learned so much from browsing the forum here. I'm a DIY kind of guy so I've been using the hell out of the DIY section... I'll be posting a DIY plan for the incubator I've built soon, as well as some other things we've came up with. We have 6 hens and one rooster and today we are going to pick up some geese. We are also picking up ducks in the fall, and pigs and turkey's in the spring and some cows in the future... We are trying to get to a point where we grow a majority of our food our selves.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm a DIY guy as well, but I was never had any success trying to build a homemade incubator that would actually hatch eggs. I finally gave up on it and bought an inexpensive Genesis styrofoam incubator that worked great. I'm a chicken person and don't know much about geese and ducks (although I've had a few ducks), but I have to admit that ducklings are the ultimate in cute. If need any geese or duck advice, you can reach our geese and duck sections at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/47/geese and https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks. We have a number of members from Germany and you can get in touch with them at https://www.backyardchickens.com/newsearch?search=germany. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. What kind of chickens do you have?
