New member in Maryland

Hi all , my name is Mike and I am from Maryland.

I am new to the raising birds. I am starting will Cornish Cross. My run is on concrete and I wanted to add older broke down mulch and then top with hay. Would this be acceptable? As the chicks grow and weather warms I'll move them to a chicken tractor to keep on grass and moving daily or as I see fit. From the pics this is what I have so far. Added pictures to see what I am working with.Thanks for any insight ...

The mulch alone would be fine. Hay tends to mold when it gets wet.

Hi, Mike, and welcome to BYC. That looks like chicken wire on your pen. You might want to add a hot wire as a predator deterrent.

Sourland , Not sure what hot wire is . I did use a 2x4 wire over top of chicken wire.

A hot wire is electric fencing. It is an excellent deterrent for ground predators.
