NEW MEMBER IN NE TEXAS

What a nice welcome! The peacock in my avatar is not mine, but it is an Indo-Chinese(Imperator) like mine. My male is only a year old, so I will have to wait a couple of years before he gets a nice train. This is my first time to have peafowl and I am really enjoying them.

Ah I love the greens! I'm currently brooding 6 Javas
I would much rather have Javas then the Indo-Chinese because maybe then I could find a mate for him! He is currently in love with our purple peahen, who he was raised with from a hatchling. Bow's is supposed to let me know when they can sex some older chicks this fall. He originally came from Bow's. Where did you get yours?

You'll get some really pretty spaldings from them! I got mine from a guy near Corsicana. I originally planned on going through Bow's but when inquiring I found them to be a bit rude.

Yeah, I heard that some are breeding what they call purple spaldings from a green and a purple, so that might be pretty. I actually got the pair off Craigslist from some sweet people who bought them as hatchlings from Bow's. I know that Bow's is really proud of their Imperators by the prices they have posted on their website. I have talked to him and he seems really nice, if not busy.

Craigslist has defiantly been a perk for finding birds locally. Many of my stock have come from craigslist deals. I think I may have just caught him on a bad day. The guy I bought the Javas from was extremely nice though

The couple I bought them from was well-to-do and sold the pair really cheap. They thought he was a Java, but it turned out he was an Indo-Chinese. I later found out what a deal I got but now it is hard to find a mate for him. I am looking at buying a pair of sexed chicks for $450!! I am so cheap that I squirm thinking about having to pay that much!

Ah yes sounds like you defiantly got a deal. The greens are defiantly not cheap and finding a pure strain down here is very hard now. However, it's defiantly worth it if breeding is something you'd like to do.
