1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I started keeping chickens three years ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I have 6 hens and 1 rooster. One hen is currently broody and sitting on lots of eggs.
(3) What breeds do you have? 2 barred rocks, 1 RI red, 3 Jersey Giant mixes including the rooster, and one green egg-layer I was told is a white Plymouth rock.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? They are so much fun with their different personalities and quirky behavior. Plus, the eggs!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Hiking in the mountains, knitting, dancing
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I am married with two children, we have a dog and a cat. Our dog helps watch over the chickens. We live in New Hampshire.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community Every time I have googled a question about chickens I have ended up getting the best answers from BYC. I appreciate that people are patient with all the questions that come up and I appreciate the general sense that everyone is thoroughly enjoying having chickens.
