(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I actually first got chicks years ago, but with our makeshift shelter, lost them all to predation in one night, and swore not to do it again till we could do it "right". So I'm kind of re-new.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?About 40? I keep trying to count them as they come out in the morning, but there's always a few lingerers, and I get distracted...I have just started getting my first eggs this last week.
(3) What breeds do you have? I'm a sucker for visual variety. Quite a few black stars and brown leghorns, some speckled sussex, silver-laced wyandottes, 9 banties cause they're cute, and they were free. One speckled sussex rooster, one golden-laced wyandotte rooster, one bantie rooster.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Google, by searching for egg eating (for a friend)
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? knitting, quilting, pond building and gazing, gardening, canning and dehydrating produce, cooking. Who knows what's next? I'm could be described as impulsive and fickle, or with a lively sense of curiosity with a broad range of interests depending on your point of view.
